Security Certified Network Specialist Certification
This is the official training for the SCNS exam and is designed to validate the foundational skills required by security professionals.
These security skills include, but are not limited to: Network Defense Fundamentals, Advanced TCP/IP, Routers
and Access Control Lists, Designing Firewalls, Configuring Firewalls, Configuring Virtual Private Networks,
Designing an Intrusion Detection System, Configuring an Intrusion Detection System and Securing Wireless Networks.

The SCNS certification is the all new starting point with the SCP.
The Security Certified Network Specialist (SCNS) program focuses on the critical defensive technologies
that are the foundation of securing network perimeters, such as firewalls, intrusion detection, and router
security. The up-to-date security lessons and the hands-on labs in the SCNS courseware bring the security networking world to the candidates.
The course to prepare for the exam is called, Tactical Perimeter Defense (TPD).
The SCNS certification requires the passing of one exam (number SC0-451) the Tactical Perimeter Defense, SC0-451.
The SCNS exam is designed to validate the essential perimeter security skills, including: Network Defense
Fundamentals, Hardening Routers and ACLs, Implementing IPSec and VPNs, Advanced TCP/IP, Securing Wireless Networks, Designing and Configuring Intrusion Detection Systems, and Designing and Configuring
Firewall Systems.
*Prerequisite for this certification is Security+ or equivalent experience. For further information on the Security+ program. SCP is not affiliated with, nor owns any part of, the Security+ certification.
Tactical Perimeter Defense (TPD) SC0-451 Exam
The Tactical Perimeter Defense (TPD) exam has 7 Domains. The subject and percentages of each domain are defined below:

2.4 – Create and Implement Access Control Lists

3.0 Implementing IPSec and Virtual Private Networks (10%)
3.1 – IPSec Fundamentals
3.2 – Implement IPSec on Windows Server 2003
3.3 – Identify Core VPN Concepts
3.4 – Examine VPN Design and Architecture
3.5 – Implement a VPN using Windows Server 2003
4.0 Advanced TCP/IP (15%)

4.3 – Examine the Session Setup and Teardown Process
